I am loving the Bitmoji Classroom craze! Sadly, I have no classroom in which to do this. I did set up an "Office" Slide with several links to the sites that I manage.

A few changes since my last post - I am no longer in the Media Center, although my heart is still there on many days.
I have taken a job at the district level - Technology Project Manager. I am now maintaining the district website and revamping our technology inventory system.
Coming soon - erate, and other lovely techie things.
I do still get ti help out with our local Media Specialists - their school websites and inventory...
Also - I have added Chairman of the Board of our county Family Connection collaborative. A fun project that we recently did was some READ posters with some local celebrities (school administrators, policemen, firemen, etc.)

Book Fair Time
It's that time of year again - BOOK FAIR! I love the Book Fair. I love to decorate for the book fair and I love the excitement that the kids have for the book fair.
This year, our theme was Monsters Book Fair!
Check out all the Doors with Monsters on them, in them, behind them...
I never know how well the Book Fair will do. Economically, it is not my best fundraiser, especially for the work. But, the kids love it. They love to come shop. Even kids with only 50 cents will come and ask what they can buy. Kids LOVE to buy STUFF, anything. This year was a good year. We sold almost twice as much as last year. I don't know why... some years are just better than others.

Upcoming Tournament
OK. So, on top of the Media Specialist duties that I have, I also sponsor the Chess Club. Our team is combined with teams from the Middle School and High School and also a team from a neighboring elementary school. We compete 4 times a year at the Ogeechee River Scholastic Chess Association (ORSCA) tournaments.
We began in 2011 and immediately began winning trophies and showing out! And we have continued to wrestle for first place each year since!
Now, I don't play chess. I am more of a Scrabble kind of girl. But, my kids play chess and apparently many kids at school like to play.
Our first tournament of the year is coming up in a couple of weeks, so we are working hard to get ready. I never know how well we will do for the first tournament of the year, because old students leave and new ones come in. I am oblivious to their playing ability until we get to that first tournament - I do have a coach that comes in and teaches the kids how to play - they aren't just fooling around trying to learn on their own.
Well, wish us luck!

Technology Tidbits
Flocabulary.com
How cool is this? Besides reading, Music is also a passion of mine. Music can make anything better. That includes school lessons. I still remember many little ditties that my teachers taught me to remember various facts and formulas. Add that to the realization that many of today's children love a rap song, and you have FLOCABULARY. A family member told me about this website over the weekend. Sadly, it is a paid subscription, but there are free trials and there are a few freebies that you can grab. I listened to one of the current freebies - on dividing fractions... It was very catchy - to the point that it got stuck in my head for a little while after I watched it. But for kids? Really Cool!!
AND - you can print out the lyrics to go along with it!!
